Assault and Battery
"I had been accused of assault and battery and was facing a year in jail if convicted plus fines, court costs, and restitution. I was in jeopardy of losing my family life and job if this happened. Attorney Nate Pereira immediately called me and stayed in touch with me during the whole process. He would immediately return my calls and always informed me on everything he planned on doing.
He was able to convince the Prosecutor that we could resolve this case without having to resort to a criminal trial or criminal prosecution. He also convinced the alleged victim to accept a civil compromise in exchange for accepting to drop the criminal prosecution. For a negligible amount of money, a compromise was reached. This saved me thousands in court fees and did not risk my family and me to a possible criminal conviction.
I also appreciate the way Nate Pereira handled the case and the way he spoke with me. He was always very attentive and respectful. His positive attitude is the reason for the result that was accomplished. He obviously made an impression on the prosecutor, the alleged victim, and I."

Drug Offense
"My child was facing jail time even after completing over 15 months of drug rehabilitation classes.
We were not trying to avoid punishment, but simply letting my child do the time in a safe environment such as home or a charitable organization. The only way to avoid incarceration was to convince the Court that jail time would be unfair and severe considering the effort my child had gone through to improve.
Going into jail for an extended period would only regress the progress that my child achieved through therapy.
Unfortunately for me,the Court would not even talk to me unless a District Attorney was involved in the process. Frankly, the District Attorney's Office had no consideration for my child's improvement and complete reversal of lifestyle. They were not willing to listen. They made me feel like my child was just another conviction statistic and they showed us no mercy.
Fortunately, though, Natalio Pereira... took my child's case at a moments notice. Mr. Pereira showed us compassion and understanding. He treated us with respect and dignity. He passionately made our argument to the court.
After being refuted several times by the uncompromising District Attorney's Office, Mr. Pereira did not back down. He zealously argued our case to the Court. Even when we felt that nothing else could be done, Mr. Pereira had a positive attitude and gave us hope. As a result, at each stage of the process of negotiation I was being represented by an attorney that was professional and experienced with court procedure and negotiation tactics.
The Judge was compelled by Mr. Pereira's arguments and granted my child leave to complete her punishment under home supervision. Mr. Pereira made the necessary arguments to the court when it counted most. If not for him, my child would be in the harsh environment of jail"

Probation Modification
I was convicted of driving on a suspended license due to a DUI, and had to install an Ignition Interlock Device in my car. Due to the economy, I had to take a cut in pay at work and paying to maintain the device was a real strain on my budget. Also, it was very embarrassing to have the device in my car.
Nathan Gjesdal went to court for me, and argued a motion to have the IID requirement removed from the terms of my probation. Success! I no longer have to keep the device in my car, and I am incredibly relieved.
Mr. Gjesdal was great to work with, and I am really happy that I chose him to represent me in court. Thanks to Mr. Pereira and Mr. Gjesdal, I am saving money and spared the embarrassment of having to blow into a Breathalyzer device to start my car!

Probation and Expungement
"Nate Pereira represented me for a motion to terminate probation and expungement. At the hearing, we were packed in a small courtroom. The Judge briefly reviewed the file and looked up at Mr. Pereira and told him he saw no reason to terminate formal probation. He then asked Mr. Pereira why he should even consider doing this.
The courtroom paused. The probation officer, bailiff's, court clerk's, attorney's, audience members in the courtroom, and myself all listened intently.
Mr. Pereira explained that I was a distinguished member in the armed forces for 14 years, that I was a family man who was trying his best to support his family in these difficult times. He admitted that I was remorseful for the 5 minutes in my life where I stupidly stole an item.
I had never been in trouble before then. He stated that I had paid for my mistake many times over and that I had lost a respectful career as a bookkeeper and I had been reduced to factory work at much lower pay. He mentioned that I had complied with all my probation requirements and had never missed any scheduled review. He stated that I had been serving my probation for over 2 years and that I was the type of person that deserved a second chance.
That brief moment where Mr. Pereira poured his heart out to the Judge was the difference. The Judge lowered his glasses from his nose and stared down at Mr. Pereira, who was smiling and standing dutifully for a response.
He said just a few words, but these words have changed my life. "Alright, I'll grant it." And that was it. The motion was granted and I was able to terminate probation and take that awful blemish of theft off my criminal rap sheet. I will now be able to seek employment as a bookkeeper and will not have to report this crime on any application for employment."

Theft
"I didn't know what to do when I was accused of felony burglary, felony grand theft, and felony distribution of marijuana charges. I was certain that I was facing serious jail time. I had co-defendants that were being represented by the public defender and alternate public defender.
The public defender's had already decided to accept the District Attorney's deal which included jail and pleading guilty to all three felony counts. In fact, they wanted to go on the record that they wanted to accept the deal, in direct opposition to my attorney Mr. Pereira's recommendation.
Thanks to my attorney's experience and relationship with the Judge and DA's office, he was able to have all the felony charges against me dismissed, and I only incurred a minimal charge of misdemeanor burglary and a minor punishment with no jail time."

Theft
"My son was facing very serious criminal charges and we did not know what to do. Nate Pereira... reassured us throughout the whole process. He was thoughtful and was always available to answer our questions.
When we thought jail was the only alternative for our son, he fought passionately to insure my son would never see one second of a jail cell.
For saving his future record of serious charges and keeping my child out of jail, we will be eternally grateful."
